View on a rainy day

View on a rainy day

This is the view from my window through the rain. The garden is loving it but I have to confess I prefer sunshine.

However there are always plusses. Today is a great day for staying inside, warm and dry, reading, sewing and cooking.

My kitchen smells wonderful, cheese scones cooling on the rack and bread cooking in the bread machine. I used to make my own bread by hand but I could never find a place at a constant temperature for the proving so I finally gave in and bought a machine. I use my own recipe variations and I think I’ve only bought bread two or three times since I got it.

Yesterday the postie brought me a book I ordered recently. So I can settle down this afternoon and have a good browse while it tips down outside.

The book is called Enchanted Views by Dilys Fronks. Since I’ve been doing my labyrinth using reverse appliqué I’m interested to see how other quilters approach such challenging designs.

Dilys’ quilts are inspired by wrought-iron gates , fences and balconies so I thought her techniques would be worth exploring.

Your gardens looking very lush. Lots of rain but we needed it. I picked up some fresh yeast at Miranda today to make bread this weekend.

What was the name of that quilting show on pay TV, done by Alex Anderson – well, Dylis Fronks was on that show a few years ago and demonstrated her method. Got me right in! I bought the very same book the next day. Maybe if you go to that show’s web site you will still be able to look it up.

    Was it Simply Quilts??????

Hi Dee Not sure, it sounds right. I’ll take a look on The Quilt Show website and see what I can find. Thanks Munaiba
